Tuxedo Tips for Your Big Day

When it comes to a small wedding with Meander Gatherings, the only thing you need to bring is your marriage license and your attire!  We love taking care of everything else and allowing you to practically be a guest at your own wedding.   Since all you have to worry about is your dress and your tux, we thought it would be fun to have a guest blog from one of our local menswear companies, Celebrity Tux and Tails, to give you tips for your big day.

Celebrity Tux and Tails is a family-owned and operated formalwear company located in the Phoenix area. They specialize in suits and tuxedos for both men and women and offer a variety of options in rental, off-the-rack retail and custom made attire. They are dedicated to making the formalwear process simple, affordable, and exceptional for their customers!

We asked their specialists what couples should consider when shopping for suits and tuxedos for their small-- or big-- weddings.

Tip 1: If you can't decide between black or brown shoes, consider where you'll be having your wedding.  If it's outdoors in Arizona, chances are you'll be walking around in some red Arizona dirt.  If so, we recommend brown because it doesn't show up quite as much as it does on black.

Tip 2:  Coordinate the shirts to match the dress.   Specifically, only wear white shirts if the bride’s dress is stark, paperwhite.  If it’s a shade of off-white or ivory, we recommend using an ivory shirt.  This will prevent the dress from looking yellow or dirty next to bright white shirts in photos.

Tip 3:  When selecting colors for your menswear, check out how your photographer photographs those colors.  If you want a navy suit, and your photographer has dark and moody photos, the navy may look black in the pictures.

Tip 4:  Most of our grooms choose to wear a tie that matches the bride instead of the same one the groomsmen are wearing.  Instead of having the groom match all the bridesmaids’ dresses, a tie that matches the bride’s dress helps you two coordinate in photos more naturally.

If you have other questions specific to your menswear choices, we recommend setting up a consultation with a tuxedo specialist in your local area like Celebrity Tux and Tails.  They can help provide you with all the information you need to make the right decision for your event.
